Is accreditation required for homeschooling?

17 August 2021, 10:48

Power Homeschool is a courseware delivery tool that delivers online courseware to students being homeschooled by their parents, and as such, is not accredited. Many parents who decide to homeschool will create their own diploma when the student is ready to graduate. The U.S. military and many universities have adopted policies that recognize homeschool diplomas issued by parents.

The attitude towards and acceptance of homeschooling varies from school to school. Coursework completed by a homeschooled student may or may not be recognized or accepted by schools, colleges, or employers. Homeschooling parents should research these considerations to determine whether homeschooling is the right option for their student.

The effectiveness of any course will depend on the diligence of the students, which in a home school environment, is the responsibility of the parents. Parents who choose to homeschool their children should become familiar with and follow any applicable homeschooling requirements for their region.

For parents who prefer to have their student graduate with a diploma from an accredited online school, we recommend Acellus Academy.
