How do the Special Assignments get graded? Who grades them?

31 January 2022, 20:01

In Power Homeschool, the Special Lessons are optional, and parent graded.  Only the Writing Tutor lessons will show a grade in the system.  However, because Special Lessons are not required, even the Writing Tutor grades will not affect the final score in any way.

The Special Lessons provide hands-on learning opportunities to enrich each student's learning experience. Parent resources are provided with these lessons, including student handouts, lesson instructions, answer keys, and grading rubrics.

Notifications for the Special Lessons will appear on the student's 'Special Lessons' tab when a new one is available.

Once a student turns in a Special Lesson, it will be marked Green and will no longer be included in the Special Lesson notification count.  Note: Only the Writing Tutor lessons will show a grade.

Parents can preview the upcoming Special Lessons in the parent interface by clicking on the 'Syllabus' tab.  These steps--identified as a small briefcase icon--will have a 'teacher' button and 'student' button.  This is where parents can find additional help for grading as well as printable pages that students can do "off-line", if desired.
