Will you receive a passing certificate if you do not complete the special lessons in a course?

Thank you for contacting us.

Special Lessons are included in many of the courses to engage students in higher-order thinking and address critical areas, such as the development of writing and research skills.  Parent resources are provided with the onsite lessons, including: student handouts, lesson instructions, answer keys, and grading rubrics.

In Power Homeschool however, (since we are a curriculum provider to parents who are privately homeschooling, hands on work is up to the parent/teacher) the Special Lessons are not counted as part of the grade and are completely optional.  The completion of the course is not affected by the special lessons in any way. Many parents will have the student do the special lessons that they feel are needed and they then keep the printed lesson in their homeschooling records. But, again it is fully up to you as the homeschooling parent.
